Day 8: The Beat Goes On

We made it one quarter of the way through the round of 32 today, which seems like the least interesting part of the NCAA tournament: the first few days that are wall-to-wall basketball (or books) are over, and we aren't yet to the high-profile match-ups. Still, I'd take basketball (and books) right now over no basketball.

5. Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb vs. 13. I Love My Daddy Because. . .
"Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" had tough competition this morning, but it continues its tummy thumping roll. Had I looked into "HHFT" author before setting the regions up, since Al Perkins also spent his later years in La Jolla. One wonders if he traded whimsical pranks with Dr. Seuss (or if he existed at all). And yes, it may be harder coming up with things to say as this goes on.

11. Time for a Hug vs. 3. Goodnight Moon
This was a close one. Jack was in his Boppy, which meant the hugs only got mimed. "Goodnight Moon" had the wrong energy for 9:00 in the morning, and that's on me. If it's up to me, "Goodnight Moon" will be around for a long time, as will its weird science fiction doppelganger.

6. And Tango Makes Three vs. 14. If Animals Kissed Goodnight
Many of the kisses were not mimed, and he got a few smackers right on his wrinkly forehead. Including one sloooow sloth kiss. He's a big fan of the sloth kisses, and Tango, Silo, and Roy will have to wait until next time to try and win it all. They still have the best Wikipedia "Known For" a family of penguins could ask for: "Used as argument for human moral questions."

5. Little Feminist Artists vs. 4. Little Town of Spirals
This time, I think Jack actually wanted a longer book. He enjoyed both, but his happiness built to a crescendo by the time we'd finished "Little Town of Spirals."

Next time: books and books and books and books
